Our customers enjoy all kinds of different content using Plex. We celebrate the right of all content creators to share their views and opinions, even when we may not agree with them. However, as outlined below, there are times when content from our content partners and providers may be removed from Plex.
We do not allow hate speech directed at people based on race, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, and serious disease or disability. This includes violent or dehumanizing speech, statements of inferiority, calls for exclusion or segregation, or speech intended to incite hatred. We understand that content may include examples of hate speech for the purpose of raising awareness or educating others. There may also be a fine line between what is and what is not considered hate speech. For example, it may be okay to criticize a country, but not if the primary purpose is to incite hatred against its people based on their ethnicity.
We do not allow content that intends to incite violence or encourage dangerous or illegal activities that have an inherent risk of serious physical harm or death. We also restrict content that intends to illegally sell or promote certain regulated or illicit goods and services, including drugs, pharmaceuticals that require a prescription, alcohol, nicotine products, counterfeit documents, or stolen credit card information. A video that depicts dangerous acts may be allowed if the primary purpose is educational, documentary, scientific, or artistic, and it isn’t gratuitously graphic.
We do not allow content that glorifies violence or celebrates the suffering or humiliation of others. We know that people value the ability to discuss important issues like human rights abuses or acts of terrorism. So we allow graphic content (with some limitations) to help people raise awareness about social issues.
We do not allow gratuitous sexually explicit content, although artistic and non-sexual nudity may be allowed. We understand that nudity and sexually themed content may be shared for a variety of reasons, including as a form of protest, to raise awareness about a cause, or for educational or medical reasons. Where such intent is clear, we make allowances for the content.
All content providers must obtain proper authorization and permission from trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property rights holders. All content providers must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
